Webre wins re-election

Craig Webre is still Lafourche Parish’s Sheriff.

Webre easily secured re-election, securing 68 percent of the vote. Results are not 100 percent official, but 93 percent of the votes have been tallied.

Webre defeated challengers Craig Jaccuzzo and Thomas Rodrigue in what was a contentious race that often became personal on the campaign trail.

Jaccuzzo attacked Webre’s career and tactics, even talking at times about Webre’s family.

In recent days, Webre called Jaccuzzo a “coward” for his tactics.
