Adam Curtis “Chuck” Istre, 89, a native of Lake Arthur, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 3:07 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016.


Mr. Istre was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 during World War II, serving on the PC487 Yosemite and Yellowstone in the Pacific Theater. He re-enlisted as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was very interested in American history and enjoyed visiting museums, plantations and historical sites.

He is survived by his sons, Adam Jr. (Gail), George (Marie) and Malcom Istre; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2 in Houma.
