Alcide J. Smith Jr., 73, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011.
Mr. Smith was a member of Ward 7 Citizens Club, Woodmen of the World and Knights of Columbus who had a passion for woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Smith; daughter, Darla (Glenn) Cantrelle; brothers, Ernest, Jimmy, Carlton Sr., Randall and Mark Smith; sisters, Jeanette Andrews, Juanita Eskine, Gloria Johnson, Elaine Marie, Rosemary Foret, Lillian Robichaux, Patricia Gary and Kathy Dupre; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide Sr. and Juliette Smith; brothers, Norman, Clark, Gary, Rudy and Ricky Smith; and sister, Sylvia Chauvin.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at Samart Funeral Home in Houma and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. (Samart)
