Aletha Early Hartman, 88, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Tuesday, August 19.


She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Hartman Peters and husband Clifton of Las Vegas, Nv., and Aletha Hartman Sears of Houma, La.; three grandsons, Micheal Sears and wife Margrete of Chauvin, George Profit and wife Youvet of Pasadena, Ca., and Elliot Profit and wife Das of Thibodaux, La.; three granddaughters, Barbara Wilson, Angela Hite and husband Melvin of Houma, and Shelia Bradley and husband Edward of Thibodaux; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hartman; her parents, Ruben Early and Verna Williams; stepfather, Robert Welch; one daughter, Ernestine Hartman; and her grandparents, the Rev. Johnny and Cloeta Williams and Lettie Nixon and Blomer Early.


She was retired with Terrebonne Parish School Board and enjoyed cooking and sewing.

She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 25, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Chauvin, with burial at Bisland Cemetery in Bourg, La.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
