Alex St. Amant Sr., 84, a native of Leroy, LA. and resident of Houma, LA., died at noon Sunday, January 21, 2007.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Cecile Deroche St. Amant of Houma; four sons, Alex St. Amant Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Bourg, LA., Robert St. Amant Sr. and wife, Rose Mary, of Kentucky, Allen St. Amant and wife, Eartha, of Gray, LA. and Clarence St. Amant and wife, Lori, of Houma; one daughter, Desiree St. Amant of Houma; eight grandchildren, Angel S. Garner, Aimee S. Detiveaux, Annette S. Martin, Robert St. Amant Jr., Jonathan St. Amant, Dawn K. Baker, Kayla K. Nora and Kimberly St. Amant; and eight great-grandchildren, Bobby Martin, Alexis Martin, Alex Detiveaux, Reece Detiveaux, Brittany Henry, Marc Baker and including one great-granddaughter and great-grandson, not named.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert St. Amant and Azelia Cormier St. Amant; three brothers, Lionel St. Amant, John St. Amant and Noe’ St. Amant; and one sister, Olive Menard.

He was a retired roustabout with Texaco and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Children’s Hospital.

Chauvin Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
