Allen J. “Jay” Plaisance, 77, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a resident of Galliano, La., died Wednesday, December 24.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Dardar Plaisance; sons, Larry Plaisance, Andrew Plaisance, Greg Plaisance and Maurice Plaisance; daughters, Martha Guy and Jennifer Griffin; step-sons, Brent Majia and Gable Majia; step-daughters, Charlotte Pouche and Tracy Arinder; brother, Douglas Plaisance; sisters, Rosemary Rousse and Emmalois Collins; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Plaisance; parents, Horace and Rosella St. Pierre Plaisance; son, Eric Plaisance; brother, Antoinne Plaisance; and sisters, Rose Orgeron and Luviena Thibodaux.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. He loved being a tugboat captain.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, December 29, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
