Allen Joseph Dupre Sr., 82, a native of Pointe-Aux-Chenes, La., and a resident of Amelia, La., died Friday, Oct. 23, at 3:15 p.m.


He is survived by his wife, Rita Duplantis Dupre; three sons, Rachael Morris Dupre and wife Waldine, Allen Joseph Dupre Jr. and Kelly Anthony Dupre Sr. and wife Susan; five daughters, Andrea Dupre Baum and husband Vic, Christine Ann Dupre and husband Evans, Valina Dupre Blanchard and husband Stewart, Mona Dupre Carpenter and husband Sean, and Leslie Dupre Hanson and husband Richard; 88 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marquis Dupre, Willard Naquin and Alvin Naquin; and three sisters, Julia “T-Lou” Adams, Dora Lee Authement and Marie Hunt


He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Joseph Dupre and Felicia Dupre Dupre; one brother, Murphy Dupre; and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters.

He was a propeller shop foreman and a retired boat captain. He was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an active member of the VFW in Dulac, La. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Chauvin Funeral Home, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at St. Andrews Catholic Church, and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at the church cemetery.
