Allen Francis Martinez, 76, a native and resident of Houma, LA., died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007.


Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by his mother, Agnes Landry Martinez of Houma; four sons, Jerry Martinez of Lafayette, LA., Jackie Martinez and wife, Sue, of Petal, MS., Gregory Martinez of Baton Rouge, LA., and Michael Martinez and wife, Julie, of Metairie, LA.; two daughters Monica Petitjean and husband, George; and DD McElligott and husband Scott of Lafayette; and 10 grandchildren, Alex Girard, Natalie Girard, Lance LeCompte, Emily Martinez, Amie Martinez, Rebecca Martinez, Sarah Martinez, Michelle Martinez, James McElligott and John McElligott.


He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Martinez.

He was a retired purchasing agent and salesman for Pool Offshore and the Houma Daily Courier, and manager and part owner of Allen’s Supermarket in New Iberia and L & S Supermarket in Houma.

He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, a member of St. Gregory Knights of Columbus Council No. 6170 and a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be his sons, Jerry Martinez, Jackie Martinez, Gregory Martinez and Michael Martinez; son-in-law, Scott McElligott; and grandson, Alex Girard.

Chauvin Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
