Allen Joseph “Pop” Pellegrin, 76, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, August 3, 2007, at 7:10 p.m.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ethel Domangue Pellegrin; four sons, Daniel “Dano” Pellegrin, Johnny “J.P.” Pellegrin and his wife Janet, Barry Pellegrin, Sr. and his wife Joanne, and Ronnie “Joe” Pellegrin; three daughters, Carol “Snook” P. Black and her husband James, Kathy P. McMurray and Connie “Putsy” Watson and her husband Dennis; one brother, Gerald “Tut” Pellegrin; two sisters, Jeanette Platt and Brenda Braud; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Joseph Pellegrin and Onieta Theriot Pellegrin; one son-in-law, Ron McMurry; and one daughter-in-law, Tammy Pellegrin.


Allen was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He was a loving husband to his wife Ethal for 56 years. He was a retired mechanic with Beacon Rental and owner of Marine Motor Service. Allen was an Air Force Veteran and served his country during the Korean War and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer firefighter and an avid hunter and fisherman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.

Visitation is Monday August 6, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home and Tuesday, August 7, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
