Almeader Jackson Hawkins, 73, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, September 11, 2007

She is survived by her four sons, Thomas Hawkins, Jr., James V. Hawkins, Chester Hawkins, and Thomas Hawkins; three daughters, Jo-Ann Hawkins Taplett, Teressa Hawkins, and Katherine Lawson; one sister, Rosedell Jackson Franklin; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Hawkins, Sr.; her second husband, James McGuire; her parents, James Victor and Albertia Calloway Jackson, Sr.; one son, John A. Hawkins; seven brothers, James, Victor, Edward, Albener, Singelo, George, Sr., and Clinton Jackson; and two sisters, Mary and Mamie Jackson.

Almeader was a devout Baptist and is now at Peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a retired employee of Terrebonne Parish School Board.

Visitation is Friday, September 21, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the funeral held on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at First Corinthian Baptist Church in Houma. She will be buried in Southdown Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
