Alphonse Adolph Blanchard Jr. , 91, a native and resident of Bourg, La., died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.


Mr. Blanchard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and employee of Texaco. He was active in Terrebonne Parish Recreation, served as Constable of Bourg, and was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church. In his younger years he loved to fish, trawl, farm and play sports with his children, grandchildren and other family members.


He is survived by seven daughters; five sons; 41 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayola Blanchard; daughter, Alice Blanchard; son, Philip Blanchard; parents, Alphonse and Isoline Blanchard; brothers, Emile, Henry and Adolph Blanchard; and sisters, Lucille Robichaux, Edna Bascle and May Schouest.

Burial was at St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. (Samart)
