Alvin “Putut” Gagneaux, 80, a native of Chacahoula, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, May 6, 2014.
Mr. Gagneaux was a sweet, tenderhearted man who always had a smile on his face. He worked as a welder for many years and spent time working in Scotland. He was an avid LSU fan and enjoyed live music and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughter, Harriet (Tony) Miranda; companion, Evelyn Blanchard; brother, James Gagneaux; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Durocher; parents, Romain and Sarah Gagneaux; brothers, Howard, Harry, Douglas, Abel and Kirvey Gagneaux; and sisters, Delores Bennett and Marion Toups.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Saint Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux with mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. (Thibodaux)
