Alvin J. Pontiff, 72, a native and resident of Schriever, La., died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011.
Mr. Pontiff was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved going to the camp as often as possible. He was affectionately known as “Honey” and “Pa Honey” to family and friends. He was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Olivier Pontiff; daughter, Melanie (Charlie) Positerry; sons, Kevin (Ellen) and Steve (Desiree) Pontiff; sister, Lorraine Richard; two brothers, Lucius Jr. and Lawrence Pontiff; nine grandchildren, Katie and Megan Positerry, Kayla Fregin, Amy, Lauren, Mattie, Caroline, Alexander and Benjamin Pontiff; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Fregin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucius and Bessie Duet Pontiff; one sister, Shirley P. Boudreaux; and two brothers, Earl and Ray Pontiff.
He is buried at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
