Alvin “Bull Giant” Joseph Prosperie, 74, a native and resident of Montegut, LA., died at 6:58 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007.


Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Vivian Savoie Prosperie of Montegut; three sons, Glynn Prosperie and wife, Cindy, Harold Prosperie and wife, Bertha, of Montegut and Elie Prosperie and wife, Penny, of Gray, LA.; three daughters, Gwen P. Thibodeaux and husband, Milton, Anna P. Sides and husband, Tom, of Houma, LA. and Tina P. Garibotte and husband, Danny, of Gray; 12 grandchildren, Cy Thibodeaux, Mindy Lyons, Toby Prosperie, Lee Prosperie, Heidi Authement, Hanna Whipple, Joshua Garibotte, Elise Garibotte, Hunter Prosperie, Coby Prosperie, Krystal Dufrene and Michael Leger Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren, Chase Thibodeaux, Raegan Thibodeaux, Cullen Thibodeaux, Bree Lyons, Gage Lyons, Gabrielle Authement, Alexis Prosperie and Tri Leger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie Prosperie and Nora Hebert Prosperie; and three brothers, Claude, Junius and Charles Prosperie.

He was a retired pumper with Texaco and a U.S. Army veteran during peace time.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Chauvin Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
