Amedee L. Brou, Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 23, 2017. He was a native of Edgard, Louisiana and longtime resident of Houma.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church from 9:30 am until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

He was born on January 13, 1925 to the late Amedee L. Brou, Sr. and Olga Burch Brou. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged following WW II. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he was active in Knights of Columbus of Christ the King council, serving as Grand Knight. He moved to Houma as manager of Model Dairy and subsequently began his own business, Southland Dairy. His Catholic faith guided his life and was demonstrated in his service to the Church, at St. Francis de Sales, teaching High School of Religion and Pre-Cana classes, and at St. Gregory as a founding parishioner, lector and Eucharistic minister. He continued to serve in Knights of Columbus for over 25 years.


He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Carol Demoruelle Brou, daughter Margaret Browning and husband Deane, son Thomas Brou and wife Tricia, son John Brou, daughter Carolyn Cuneo and husband Carlo, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Francis R. Brou, S.J. and Charles Brou.
