Luncheon to recognize area’s foster parents; More adults needed to provide homes to youths

Andrew Murphy Glynn Sr., 93, a native of Donner, La. and resident of Houma, La., died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007.


Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.


He is survived by one son, Edward Joseph Glynn of Vienna, Va.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Glynn, Angela Glynn, Jason Glynn and Daniel Glynn; and one great-grandchild, McKenzie Glynn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elphy Mary Porche Glynn; his parents, Thomas Joseph Glynn and Victorine Dupre Glynn; one son, Andrew Glynn Jr.; eight brothers, Louis, Nolton, Easton, Percy, Douglas, Stanley, Lawrence and Gilbert Glynn; and one sister, Lillian Hebert.

He worked for Shell Oil Company in the 1930’s on a seismograph crew searching for oil. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was overseas for 36 months in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He participated in the battles for the Kasserine Pass, Hill 609, Tunis, Palermo, Anzio and Monte Cassino. After World War II he worked at Texaco for 30 years until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the VFW.
