Arnolia Stoves Porter, 73, a native of Terrebonne Parish, LA. and a resident of Houma, LA., died Thursday, April 12, 2007.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


She is survived by her companion and care keeper, Curven Castle Jr.; her nephews, Charles Jr. and Ron Barabin, Nathaniel, Noble Jr. and Sean Patterson, and Brian Bass; her nieces, Dr. Glenda Patterson, Mary Louisie Patterson, Jean Carol Barabin, and Tiffany Bass Howard; and her sister, Alzena Stoves Barabin.


She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Stoves; her brothers, Benjamin and Larry Stoves; her sisters, Ann Thompson, Earline Patterson, Iona Barnes, and Jacquelyn Bass; and her grandparents, Jimmie and Lillie Sims and Charlie and Suzanne Stoves.

She was a baptist and member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church.

She enjoyed bowling and cooking.

She was retired school teacher with Terrebonne Parish School Board for 33 years.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangments.
