Arthur “Art” Adam Roussel Jr., 69, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died Thursday, April 9, at 12 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vivian Orgeron Roussel; sons, Brian P. and wife Mary B. Roussel of Raceland, La., Craig P. and daughter-in-law Pam B. Roussel of Thibodaux, La., and Scott P. and wife Cindie D. Roussel of Thibodaux; sisters, Velma R. and husband Edwis Dufrene, Thelma R. and husband Manton Chiasson Sr., Bertha R. and husband James Vedros, and Maude R. Crochet, all of Lockport, and Bernice R. and husband Glenn Bourgeois of Raceland; brother-in-law, Michael and wife Beckie Orgeron; sister-in-law, Meryl O. Jones; grandchildren, Chris Hendrix, Keith Roussel, Brittnie Roussel, Blake Terry, Dustin Terry and Whitney Terry; great-grandchildren, Ava Hendrix and Adrienne Terry; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur “Dub” and Clemillia G. Roussel Sr.; daughter, Celeste R. Hendrix; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Orgeron; brother-in-law, Gerald “Zeke” Crochet Sr.; and nephew, Troy Chiasson.

He was an employee of Bollinger Shipyards Inc. for 34 years until he retired in 2006. He enjoyed fishing, computer games, home improvement and spending time with his family. He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport, and 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Holy Savior Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
