Babette Lewald Babin, 74, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 10:48 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010.

Mrs. Babin was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church, and the former owner of Amber Door Antique Shop. She was a past queen of the Krewe of Houmas, and volunteered at Southdown Museum’s gift shop.


She is survived by her husband, Raymond Babin Sr. of Houma; son, Raymond (Phyllis) Babin Jr.; two grandchildren, James and Laura Babin of Lake Charles; one great-grandchild, Emma Babin of Lake Charles; sister, Hannah (Gerald Sr.) Babin of Houma; nieces, Mary Hannah Roland, Madeline Warren and Marie Long; and nephews, Gerald Paul Babin, Jr., Chris Babin, Robert Babin and Raymond A Babin, Sr., Houma, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius Louis and Elvire Pellegrin Lewald.

She is buried at Magnolia Cemetery.
