Benjamin William Rollins, Jr. was born in Houma, La. on June 16, 1930, the son of Benjamin W. Rollins, Sr. and Louise Celestine Verrett.


Benjamin, a life long resident of Terrebonne Parish, was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Alexander Griffin of New Salem Baptist Church.


His formal education began in Terrebonne Parish. He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was a diligent steward and caretaker of his church, an outstanding citizen, and a Mason in the Blaine C. Clay Masonic Lodge #14.

Benjamin was a long-term employee of Gulf Coast Rental Tools. He was also a retiree of the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, one sister, Marion “Patsy” Taylor and her husband Raymond of Houma; three sisters-in-law, Roberta Verrett, Helen Verrett, and Gloria Verrett of Houma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin W. Rollins, Sr. and Louise Celestine Verrett; three brothers, Arthur, Harold, and Donald Verrett; one sister, Leontyne Robinson; and three nephews, John and Donald Robinson, and Harold Verrett.

Visitation is Friday, August 3, 2007, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with the funeral to be held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church. He will be buried in Deweyville Cemetery.
