Bessie Mae Exnicious Banks, 84, a native of Bertrandville, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Tuesday, July 7.


She is survived by three daughters, Linda Joseph and husband Sidney Jr. of Schriever, La., Clementine M. Jones of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Martha Banks-Kirk and husband Victor of Baton Rouge, La.; three sons, Murphy Banks Jr. and wife Betty of Morgan City, La., and Ellis Banks Sr. and wife Carol and Jerome Banks Sr. of Thibodaux; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Banks Sr.; parents, Joseph and Martha Exnicioous; one brother, Harry Encinious Sr.; and three sisters, Rosemary Freeman, Bernice Thompson and Gladys Rohilliard.

She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and served on the usher board. Her hobbies included watching western movies and collecting antique what-nots.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Labadieville, La., with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
