Law enforcement makes arrest in 15-year-old priest murder case

Betty LaBiche Cheramie, 65, a native of Cut Off, La., and resident of Golden Meadow, La., died Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 10:43 p.m.
She is survived by three sons, Leo Lopez, Sr., Berwick Cheramie, Jr. and David Cheramie; three daughters, Sue Garcia, Sandy Guidry, and Annette Cheramie; one brother, Raleigh LaBiche; one sister, Thelma LaBiche; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Mary Jane LaBiche; one brother, Edward LaBiche; and four sisters, Shirley Borne, Onita LaBiche, Eula Mae Cheramie and Mary Lirette.
Betty was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 19, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, with the funeral to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. She will be buried in Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Larose, La.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
