Betty Domangue Duplantis, 72, a native of Chauvin, La., and a resident of Abbeville, La., died at Abbeville General Hospital at 2:45 a.m. Friday, November 14.


She is survived by her husband, Lindy Paul Duplantis of Grand Caillou, La.; one son, Lucius Joseph Duplantis Sr. and companion Samanthe Lee Knight; three daughters, Patti Lyons and husband Barry, Suzan M. Frederick and husband Raymond, and Monica Theresa Callahan and companion Glynn Chaisson Jr.; one sister, Bella Branson and husband Jerry; grandsons, Donnie, Kyle, and Rusty Lyons, Donald and Brett Frederick, Cleus Bergeron Jr. and Lucius Duplantis Jr.; granddaughters, Amanda Broussard, Katina Chaisson, Kasie LeBlanc and Rori Duplantis; one step-granddaughter, Cynthia Waguespack; nine great-grandchildren, Bree, Gage, Katee, Kole Lyons, Chelesea and Erica Broussard, Kaden and Hayes LeBlanc, Choloe Bergeron; her stepmother, Vidrine Domangue; three godchildren, Sally Thibodeaux, Heaven Branson and Robbie LeCompte; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Miner Augustin and Edia Trahan Domangue; one daughter, Edia Raye Duplantis; one brother, Terry Joseph Domangue Sr.; one stepson, Lindy Duplantis Jr.; one stepdaughter, Silence Ann Duplantis; and one grandson, Joshua Bourque.


Paul bearers will be Lucius Sr., Donnie, Kyle, Rusty, Cleus Jr., Brett and Lucius Jr.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Abbeville. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family will forever be grateful for all she has given to us in love and wonderful memories. She truly will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, November 17, at Chauvin Funeral Home with mass to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. She will be buried at St. Elie Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
