Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong
March 19, 2010Betty Lee Murdock Thorn, a native of Lafayette, La., and resident of Houston, died at her home Friday, March 5, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Thorn; son, Cedric Smith, of Houston; daughter, Shaqueatia Smith of Bluefield, W. Va.; brother, Anthony Murdock of Four Corners; sisters, Oretha Murdock of Four Corners, Mary Theresa (Horace) James of Upper Malboro, Md., and Jessie Marie Murdock of Jeanerette, La.; four grandchildren; and a host of relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton, La.
She will be buried at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
