Beulah Martin Griffin, 89, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 9:01 p.m.

She is survived by three sons, Billy Griffin, Richard Griffin and Rudy Griffin; three daughters, Thelma G. Babin, Velma G. Boland and Trudy G. Nielsen; two brothers, Thaddeus Martin and Percy Martin; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Griffin; her parents, Eddie Martin and Julia Lapeyrouse Martin; four brothers, Harris, Alvin, Julius and Lucius Martin; and two sisters, Sylvia M. Authement and Pearl M. Boudreaux.


Beulah was retired from Chauvin Brothers Packing Co. and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Her passion for music allowed her to sing in the St. Joseph Choir only weeks before her death. She was known as the “mother of twins,” having two sets of her own and three sets of grandchildren.

She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, St. Joseph Choir, Ward 7, VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with mass to follow at the church. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
