Beverly Bourgeois “Honey” Rivet, 75, a native of Jeanerette, La., and resident of Plaquemine, La., died at her home, Sunday, September 23, 2007.

She is survived by the love of her life for 27 years, Ralph F. Rivet, Sr.; five sons, James “Jimbo” Watkins, Jr. of Houma, John Gary Jr. and his wife Essie, Barry Gary and his wife Candice, of Gray, Ralph Rivet, Jr. and his wife Dawn, and Roger Rivet; five daughters, Judy Heck and her husband Mike, Debbie Bunch and her husband Charles, Donna Whitney, Darlene Navarre and her husband Greg, and Dana Kimble and her husband Eddie; one sister, Rosalie Bomba and her husband Ted; one brother, Boykin Bourgeois and his wife Flossie; 21 grandchildren, including one she and her husband helped raised, Sophia Watkins; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard J. and Gabrielle Bourgeois; two sisters, Eloise B. Penn and Rita Bourgeois; and three brothers, Lonus, Garland and Willard Bourgeois, Jr.


Beverly was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church. She loved to go dancing with her husband and loved organizing bus tours to various destinations. She was a member of St. John Court 1214 Catholic Daughters, St. John Altar Society and Knights of Columbus 970 Ladies Committee.

Thanks to our Lady of the Lake staff on the 5th floor and all the angels that work there. Special thanks to Dr. Charles Berggreen, Dr. William Hines, and Dr. Gerald Miletello and the chemo room staff, Hospice of Baton Rouge nurses and aids.

“I have fought a good fight with cancer, I have finished my course, I have kept my faith and now I am ready to be with my Lord and Savior.”

Visitation is Tuesday, September 25, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 26, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine, with the funeral to follow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She will be buried in Grace Memorial Cemetery.

Wilbert Funeral Home of Plaquemine is in charge of the arrangements.

Beverly Rivet
