Bonnie – Jane Marie Melancon, 57, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Aug. 30, at 5:05 p.m.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie Joseph Melancon Jr.; parents, Jackson Chaisson Sr. and Loretta Marcel Chaisson; mother-in-law, Ethel Sharp; three daughters, Christy Melancon Pitre and husband Charlie Pitre of Houma, Melanie Melancon Thornton and husband Jeffrey Thornton of Washington, D.C., and Julie Melancon and fiance’ Marco Sosa of Destrehan, La.; two brothers, Jackson Chaisson Jr. and Dennis Chaisson, both of Houma; two sisters, Linda Danos of Raceland, La., and Susan Ellender of Houma; and four grandchildren, Macy Taylor Pitre, Alaina Catherine Pitre, Alexa Caroline Pitre and Zachary Harris Thornton.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gladys Legendre Marcel Hebert and Dennis P. Marcel, and Nelson Chaisson and Edna Dubois Chaisson.
She was lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue, La. She lived her life with grace and courage.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
