Bruce Lewis, 72, a native of Texas and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, July 9.


He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Tabor-Lewis of Thibodaux; his sidekick, “Scooby -Do”, who was always by his side; one daughter, Nancy Jagneaux and husband Michael of Lafayette, La.; three sons, Mark Lewis, Marty Lewis and wife Mona of Breaux Bridge, La., and Frank Bruce Lewis Jr. and wife Dana of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; Mary’s three children, Vicky Bonvillain, Veronica Sampey and husband Troy and Emile Wille Bonvillain and wife Mellisa, all of Thibodaux; Mary’s six grandchildren; two brothers, Grady Lewis of Ponca City, Okla., and Ray and wife Jutta Lewis of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Guidry-Lewis of Breaux Bridge; father, William H. Lewis; mother, Lucille Robinson; and two brothers, Harvel Kindall and Bill J. Lewis.


His love for his family and friends was the most important thing in his life. He worked as a seismic consultant in oil and gas exploration for 54 years. He loved to cook and was a numismatic where he enjoyed coin collecting. He donated his body to the LSU School of Medicine hoping that even in death it would be of help to others. He was a friend to Bill W. for the last 17 years.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Thibodaux Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at a later date.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
