Carl C. Lewis Sr., 59, a native of Morgan City, La., and resident of Patterson, La., died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011.


Mr. Lewis attended Morgan City High School in 1968 then pursued a degree in Automotive Technology at Young Memorial Community College in Morgan City. He was very intelligent, loved life and people to the fullest, spoke with authority, and had a great sense of humor. His passion was working on any type of vehicle and riding motorcycles.


He is survived by his sons, Carl Jr. and Jonathan Lewis; stepson, Jeremy Andrews; daughters, Tia (Robert) Thomas, Cheramie (Eskadarrell) Johnson and Shantoya Lewis; brothers, James (Gloria) Thorpes and Pastor Jack (Judykci) Lewis; sister, Elder Sandi (William) Lewis-Coney; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Edith Lewis; wife, Rosalind Lewis; sister, Jeannette Lewis; and brother, Kenneth Evans.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City with services to follow. Burial will be at Morgan City Cemetery. (Jones)
