Carlen Joseph Breaux, 87, a native of Bayou Black, La., and a resident of Westwego, La., died Tuesday, January 27, at 3:52 p.m.

He is survived by his son, C.J. Breaux Jr. and wife Marie of Harvey, La.; daughters, Ethel Breaux Tusa of St. Rose, La., and Karen Breaux Ortiz and husband Edgar of Waggaman, La.; brothers, Arthur Breaux of Bayou Black, Edmond Breaux of Bayou Black and Hubert Breaux of Houma, La.; sisters, Velma Breaux of Houma, Eunice Hebert of Gray, La., and May Foret of Houma; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Oneillia Cantrelle Breaux; parents, Joseph Breaux Sr. and Louise Marie Hebert Breaux; daughter, Marie Breaux Liner; son-in-law, Arthur Tusa; brothers, Joseph Breaux Jr., Leone Breaux and Claude Breaux; and sister, Lottie Breaux Luason.

He was the owner of an oyster house and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 29, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, at Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma. Liturgy of the Word will be at 10 a.m. Friday with burial at St. Anthony Cemetery.
