Cecelia “Big Mama” Morvant, 70, a native of Chackbay, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Saturday, June 27.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin “MoJo” Morvant; sons, Lynn and Darrell Morvant; daughter, Merlin A. Berger; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelus Landry and Gertrude Hebert Thibodaux; sons, Glenn Morvant, Merlin J. Morvant and Keith Morvant; brother, Irvan Landry Sr.; and stepfather, Victor Thibodaux.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Thibodaux Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
