Celeste Frances Cavell Jack, 72, died at 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, in Baton Rouge at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice after a courageous and inspiring 15-and-a-half-year struggle with cancer.

“Mrs. William Theodore Jack Jr.” was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, friend and school teacher. For the past 40 years, the Jack’s spent much of their free time in Grand Isle and became good friends with many of the permanent and seasonal residents of Grand Isle. Mary Emmeline Lirette Ross, one of Celeste’s best friends since early childhood, also had a second home there and the two spent countless hours enjoying the beauty of the island together. The Jack family wishes to thank their “Grand Isle family” for their warmth and support over the years. Their compassion and humor were a perfect match for Celeste’s enduring faith, quick wit and positive spirit.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Theodore Jack Jr.; sons, Gregory, Theodore (Claudia) and Frances Jack; and daughter, Stephanie Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Sr. and Celeste Hubert Cavell; and father- and mother-in-law, William Sr. and Margaret Roberts Jack.

Donations in Celeste’s honor can be made to, Baton Rouge Cancer Services, Volunteers in Public Schools or St. Vincent de Paul.

She is interred at Roselawn Cemetery.
