Charles “Mac” Shelby Jr., 68, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Sunday, August 24.


He is survived by his stepmother, Carrie Shelby of Raceland; five daughters, Patricia Triggs, Charlene Shelby and Josephine Bradley of Raceland, Glenda Washington of Atlanta, Ga., and Phyllis Washington of Oklahoma; three sons, Charles Shelby III of Houma, La., Elder Terry Shelby of Thibodaux, La., and Perry Shelby of Raceland; nine sisters, Betty Keller of Franklin, La., Rose Woods of Thibodaux, Mary Ann Davidson of Atlanta, Carolyn Every of Raceland, Geraldine Cole of Thibodaux, Kim Curtis of Marrero, La., Debbie Triggs of Thibodaux, Sherry Bolden of Des Allemands, La., and Patricia Lewis of Houma; two brothers, Robert Lawson of Germany and Eric Triggs of Raceland; 24 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Murray Shelby; parents, Ida H Lawson and Charles Shelby Sr.; two daughters, Dora and Doreen Shelby; one sister, Frances Triggs; and one brother, Raymond Triggs.

He was Baptist.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, August 29, at Bell Baptist Church in Raceland with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Raceland.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
