Charles Edward Neil, 63, a native of Las Animas, Colo., and resident of Chauvin, La., died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.

Mr. Neil retired from Inco as a Barge Operator and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Chauvin Lion’s Club, The Sons of the American Legion, Ward 7 and Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family at the Senior Citizens of Chauvin. He also enjoyed being with his camping family.


He is survived by his wife, Ramona Smith Neil; son, Ryan (Kelli) Neil; daughter, Leslie Doiron; five grandchildren, Destinee Blanchard, Bailey Doiron, Alyssa and Charlotte Neil and Kade Doiron; brothers, Johnny, Patrick and Timmy Neil; sisters, Linda Roybal, Elsie and Theresa Neil and Patty Churchill; godchild, Brent “B.J.” Neil Jr.; in-laws, Normand Sr. “T-Man” and Melva Pitre Smith; brother and sisters-in-law, Sheila (Lloyd) Thibodeaux, Jeannie (Brent Sr.) Neil, Denise (Reginald Sr.) DeHart, and Patrick (Bernadine) and Normand Jr. (Kelly) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Lopez Neil; brothers, Leroy, Larry and Alvin Neil; and one sister, Betty Neil.

The family would like to thank Dr. Abou Issa and staff and all the Nursing Staff at TGMC.

He is buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
