Luncheon to recognize area’s foster parents; More adults needed to provide homes to youths

Charles Pharr, 61, a native of Terrbonne Parish, La. and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, May 4, 2007.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Juanita S. Pharr; his mother, Josephine D. Garrett; two sons, Patrick Pharr and wife, Freida, and Maurice Stewart; two daughters, Aleisha Hite and husband, John, and Gracie Short; seven brothers, Elton Pharr Jr. of Louisville, Ky., Perry Pharr of New Orleans, La., Ronnie Pharr of Thibodaux, La., Arnold and Paul Pharr of Gibson, La. and Mark and Dwayne Pharr of Houma; four sisters, Maxine Pharr of Gibson, Gloria Clay and husband, James, of Gibson, Betty J. Pharr of Louisville, and Otis Shelvin of Houma; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Pharr Sr.; and his grandparents, Chestnola M. Diggs, Georginia Pharr, Wilmer Diggs and Dave Pharr.

He was a construction worker.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
