September 23, 2011Chester A. Joseph, 69, a native and resident of Napoleonville, La., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.
Mr. Joseph was a graduate of Southern University and was a member of the S.U. Alumni and S.U Quarterback Club. After 25 years with the Assumption Parish school system, he retired but continued on as a substitute teacher. He was also a G.E.D. instructor at the Assumption Parish Detention Center. He was a member of the usher board and church secretary at Morning Star Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Joseph; daughter, Nedra (Tony) Robins; sisters, Geraldine (James) Granger and Rose Avery; brother, Willie Joseph Jr.; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Willie Joseph Sr.; sisters, Lillie Mae Barrio and Lillie Rose and Betty Jean Joseph; and brother, Raymond Joseph.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at Williams & Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Thibodaux, La. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. (Williams & Southall)
