Christopher “Buddie” Bolt Jr., 85, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, Aug. 23, at 8:39 a.m.


He is survived by six daughters, Laura Ingrams and husband Joseph of Baton Rouge, La., Linda Dorsey and husband Leonard of Houma, La., Cora B. Johnson of Houston, Texas, Christine Bolt, Irma Griffin and husband Rev. Lionel, and Marquerite Chatman and husband Rev. Gilmore of Thibodaux; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude W. Bolt; parents, Christopher Sr. and Louella L. Bolt; one daughter, Emily B. Kennedy; two brothers, Leroy Bolt Sr., and Lawrence Bolt; and four sisters, Rosa B. Martin, Aldenia B. Hawkins, Irma B. Moten and Lula B. West.

He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post # 513, a member of the VFW post, a member of St. Joseph Masonic Lodge # 15 and a member of John Parsons Consistory # 170. His hobbies included fishing.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Thibodaux with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at Allen Chapel AME Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.

Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
