Claire Simon Rodrigue, 82, a native of Vacherie, La., and a resident of Chackbay, La., died Tuesday, October 14.


She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Kerman Rodrigue Sr.; three sons, Kerman “K.J.” Rodrigue Jr. and wife Katherine Folse Rodrigue of Chackbay, Randy Rodrigue and wife Linda Kirkland Rodrigue of Schriever, La., and Jody Rodrigue and wife Myrna Legendre Rodrigue of Chackbay; one daughter, Myra Durocher and husband Delmas Durocher Jr.; one brother, Albert Simon of Vacherie; four sisters, Hermenie “Chony” Brock and Maude Simon, both of Jefferson, La., and Alice Falgoust and Lois Chenier, both of Vacherie; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Hermenegilde and Georgine Amedee Simon; and one brother, Hermenegilde Simon Jr.

She was a cook at Chackbay Elementary from 1973 to 1983. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She often spoke of her special relationship with her siblings and her “double first cousins.” Thanks to all who have offered prayers during her many years of illness.

She was buried at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Cemetery in Chackbay.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
