Clarence “Redbird” Coleman, 65, a native of Houma, La., and resident of New Orleans, La., died Friday, September 7, 2007.


He is survived by his wife, Amanda Morgan Coleman; two sisters, Ruby Mae Chambers and Bertha C. Minor; three brothers, Henry Coleman, Morris Coleman and Elroy Coleman; and numerous relatives.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Bell Brown and Robert and Deborah Coleman; and one brother, Roland Coleman.

Clarence served his country in the United States Navy and was a merchant marine for more than 30 years.

Visitation is Friday, September 14, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Branch Bell Baptist Church in New Orleans.

Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home in New Orleans is in charge of arrangements.
