Clarence Jackson, 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, La., died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, May 18.


He is survived by his first wife, Earline Taylor and companion, Brenda Scott, of Houma; sons, Cecil Lewis and Bernell Jackson of Schriever, La.; daughters, Rose W. Short and husband, Milton, of Gibson, La., Rose Smith and husband, Allen, of Houma, Brenda J. Celestin and husband, Westley, of Gibson, and Elaine J. Varist and husband, Fery, of Marrero, La.; brother, Joseph Jackson of Schriever; sister, Gloria Jackson of Schriever; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora L. Jackson; and his parents, Jeffery and Beatrice Jackson.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home. Religious services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
