Claude Joseph Mahler Sr., 80, a native and resident of Kraemer, LA., died at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007.

Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Kraemer. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Lucy Mae Kraemer Mahler; three sons, the Rev. Clyde Mahler, Roy Mahler Sr. and Todd Mahler; six daughters, Myra Dempster, Verdie Mahler, Marietta Becnel, Ramona Mahler, Kathleen Dempster and Dora Gough; five brothers, Vincent, Alidore, Albert, Butley and Lester Mahler; five sisters, Mable Morvant, Jeanne Guidry, Henritta Landry, Gertrude Simoneaux and Francis Reulet; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Florestine Durocher Mahler; one son, Claude Mahler Jr.; one grandson, P.J. Dempster III; three brothers, Louis Mahler Sr., Norman Mahler and Henry Mahler Jr.; and one sister, Louise Constant.

He was a member of the Kraemer Knights of Columbus No. 10800 and E.D. White Assembly Knights of Columbus No. 316.

Thibodaux Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
