Sheriff’s ranges give public a new target

Clifford L. Abadie, 83, a native of Edgard, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010.

Mr. Abadie was a geophysicist for Exxon for 40 years, having retired in 1986. He was a member of Exxon’s Annuitant Club, the St. Francis de Sales choir, St. Gregory choir, Les Amis De La Chanson choir and the Shady Acres Singers. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.


He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Mazerac Abadie; son, Wayne (Paula) Abadie; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Melvin (Betty) and Errol Abadie; sisters, Dolly Louviere and Clara Baudoin; brother-in-law, Donald Pitre; and sister-in-law, Irene (Raymond) Abadie.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Simeon and Aurore Cecile Waguespack Abadie; brother, Raymond “June” Abadie; sisters, Mercedes (Roy) Cooper, Lucille (Ferdinand) Dupepe, Grace Pitre, Carmen (John) McDonald, Aurora “Ora” (Raeford) Dickerson; and brothers-in-law, Lloyd Baudoin and Alvin Louviere.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

The family extends a special thanks to the physicians and staff who assisted in Mr. Abadie’s care.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.

He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
