Clyde G. Peterson, 83, a native and lifelong resident of Patterson, La., died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010.

Mr. Peterson’s love and appreciation of nature was reflected in all that he placed his eyes on, whether it was a beautiful face or a timeless picture that caught his attention. As an accomplished photographer, he possessed a talent that allowed anyone who viewed his pictures an opportunity to share in the same miracles that he saw daily. He was an avid fisherman who spent countless days roaming the bayous of the Atchafalaya Basin and capturing its glorious scenes. His life was filled with many accomplishments, some of which included serving our country in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy, he furthered his education and he began his life with his family in Patterson where he went into business for himself. During this time, he built an unsurpassed legacy including serving over 23 years in the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department, four years as a Patterson Alderman and mayor pro-tem, and four years as President of Appaloosa Horse Association. In later years, he supported the sheriff’s department as an active volunteer. But his greatest accomplishment was the joy and love that he brought to his family, his friends and everyone that he met with “a few minutes to talk”.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Ganucheau Peterson; sons, Kirk (Janice Cayce) and Kevin (Inger) Peterson; daughters, Kim Peterson and Karla (Dr. Robert III) Adams; five grandchildren, Brian Rappmundt, Christina (Timothy) Aucoin, and Cayce, Lt. Mary and Leah Peterson; and one great-grandson, Jake.

He is buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson.
