Collins J. “Duke” Duet, 87, a native of Larose, La., a resident of Terrebonne, La., and Plaquemines, La., parishes for 65 years and a resident of St. Bernard Parish, La., for the last 22 years, peacefully entered eternal rest Saturday, August 23.


He is survived by his wife, Shirley T. Duet; brother of Paul Duet and wife Lauralee, Felecie D. King, Rita D. Adams, and Eleanor D. Savoie; eight children, Charmaine Theriot and husband Edward, John Duet, Elizabeth “Betty” Quinn and husband Thomas, Katherine “Kat” Schexnayder and husband Neill, Collins “Frank” Duet, Rita Casler and husband Les III, Daniel Duet and Bernadette Duet; stepchildren, Daniel Pabst III and wife Terrie, and Julie A. Huy and husband Tony; 11 grandchildren, Brenda Means and husband Michael, Dana Victoriano, Michelle Hess and husband Jeremy, Les Casler IV and wife Lisa, Frankie Parker, Justin Schexnayder, Michael Casler, Kellen-Anne Schexnayder, Anthony Casler, Danielle Schexnayder and Mary Casler; four step-grandchildren, Susan Anglin and husband Travis, Jennifer Lewis and husband Richard, Ricky Pabst and Daniel Pabst IV; four great-grandchildren, Brett Means, Brock Means, Savanna Blaif and Wyatt Hess, and a great-grandson to be born in October; and two step-great-grandchildren, Madison Lewis and Taylor Anglin.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve M. Duet; his second wife, Bernice M. Duet; his parents, Andrew Jackson Duet and Azile E. Duet; one brother, Lee Duet and wife, Althea; and three brothers-in-law, Alfie King, Nathan Adams and Claude Savoie.

He was a World War II veteran, served one year as a merchant marine and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 10666 in Arabi.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 28, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse, La. with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
