Colonel (Ret.) Philip D. Rabalais, M.D., 65, a devoted father, grandfather, friend, pediatrician, and retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel, passed away at home in Thibodaux Wednesday, April 22.


He is survived by his wife, Jane Ellender Rabalais; sons, M. Scott Rabalais and wife Joy, and Sean Rabalais and wife Melissa of Lafayette, La.; brother, Raphael J. Rabalais and wife Paula of New Orleans, La.; sisters, Juanita LeBlanc and husband Bruce of Gonzales, La., and Dorothy “Dot” Landry and husband Alfred of Thibodaux; grandchildren, Landon, Morgan, and Jocelyn Rabalais; and numerous relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his daughters, Monique Katrine and Jeanne Nicole Rabalais; and parents, Raphael J. and Erexine B. Rabalais.

He was a graduate of Jesuit High School, Loyola University, and LSU Medical School in New Orleans. He practiced pediatrics from 1974 to 1999 in Thibodaux and Houma, La., before joining West Jefferson Medical Center Pediatric ER. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, April 27, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral with mass to follow. Interment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
