Daniel Joseph Esquivel, 76, a native of Donaldsonville, La., and resident of Gonzales, La., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011.


Mr. Esquivel was a devoted husband, affectionate father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served in the Louisiana National Guard for 21 years retiring with the rank of first sergeant E8. He also retired after 36 years with Security Plan Life Insurance. Known as a true community servant, he was always willing to help those in need.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elma Esquivel; sons, Danny (Stephanie), Donny (Cindy) and Dickie (Joyce) Esquivel; daughter, Dolly Andermann; and brother, Joseph Esquivel; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delores and Elizabeth Esquivel; and sister, Mary Esquivel.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 and 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville with entombment to follow at the church mausoleum. (Ourso)
