David P. Foret Sr., 66, a native of Gheens, LA. and resident of Bayou Blue, LA., died at 11:08 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007.


Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland. Military service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at funeral home by the United Veterans League. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland, with burial in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife, Alice K. Foret; three sons, David P. “Nuch” Foret Jr. and wife, Marie, Johnny Foret and wife, Penny, and Mark J. Foret and wife, Denise; three daughters, Susan “Sue” Foret Barrios, Ann Foret Thibodeaux and husband, Mickey, and Cynthia Marie Sanchez; four grandchildren, Jared A. Blanchard and wife, Merissa, Ty Thibodeaux, Tyler Thibodeaux and Mason J. Foret; and one great-grandchild, Callie Elizabeth Blanchard.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Nora Anne Dominique Foret; his parents, Maurice Joseph and Ella Helen Bye Foret; and one brother, Richard Paul Foret.

He enjoyed bingo, hunting, fishing, beagles, singing and dancing.

He was retired and a U.S. Navy veteran and was Catholic.
