David Joseph Swiber, 52, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.

Mr. Swiber worked in the oilfield for 30 plus years with the last 13 of those years traveling to various cities and states. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was a generous, caring, loving and hard working man. He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping and especially loved spending time at “the camp” down the bayou. He was known as “Pop” by all his friends that knew him well.


He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carlene Swiber; sons, Kenneth (Jennifer) and Brian Freeman; daughter, Stacey (Tommy) Nickelson; parents, Henry Sr. and Mae Swiber; brothers, Henry Jr. (Dianne), Mike (Paula) and Dennis Swiber; sisters, Pat (Ray) Autrey, Marie (Rodney) Fromenthal, Denise (John) Ritchie and Barbara (Tom) Strader; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Twin City Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be at Morgan City Cemetery. (Twin City)
