Deloras Maker Anderson, 68, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, March 5, 2010.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and as a Bible schoolteacher. She was also a founder of Classic Ladies and a foster parent.


She is survived by her sons, Bernard Sr., Curtis Sr. and Jessie Anderson III, HieDonald (Zondra) Davis Sr. and Orenthal Martin; daughters, Vanessa (Wendell) Keller, Akesha (Kwantae) Singleton and Kizzy Martin; brothers, Edward (Gwen) Davis Sr.; sisters, Magarite (Donald) Jenkins, Doris (James) Bingham, Rosemary (James) Williams, Lisa (Ernest) Jones and Audrey Davis; 28 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.


She was predeceased by her husband, Jessie Anderson Sr.; parents, Irvin and Rosa Davis Maker; son, Jerome Anderson Jr.; sisters, Lucille Maker, Gerildine Howard and Joyce Ann Davis; and grandparents, Sullivan and Rosa Queen Davis.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, at New Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the church.

She will be buried at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
