Donald A. Tastet, 78, a native of Paradis, La., and a resident of Des Allemands, La., for 73 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 12:50 p.m.


He was the beloved husband of 26 years of Trudy Babineaux Tastet; father of Russell J. Tastet (Margo Schaubhut) and David A. Tastet (Abbey Mack); stepfather of Jonni Estay Gonzales (Larry Jr.) and Jessi Estay Meadors (Kody); grandfather of Amy Tastet Braud (Sheldon), Jason P. Tastet (Ginger Cox), Niki Tastet and Emily Tastet; step-grandfather of Bailee and Hannah Gonzales; and great-grandfather of Travis, Sara and Samantha Braud and Russell Moulin.

He was the son of the late William and Valerie Danos Tastet; and brother of the late Paul, Roy, Earl, Floyd, Lucille and Roland Tastet, Enola Foret, Ida LeBlanc, Florence Breaux and Gertrude Rahn.


Donald was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army 1st Calvary Division serving from June 8, 1948 to April 1, 1950. During his active life, he worked for National Linen Service, St. Charles Public Schools as a bus driver, had his own business and cattle ranch, and was co-founder of Dynamic Real Estate Inc. His dream in life was to travel the country he loved so much, and upon retirement, he and his wife did just that, visiting all of the lower 48 states. His eternally optimistic spirit touched everyone he knew, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of being part of his life.

Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 108B West Main Street, Thibodaux, La., 70301.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1,with the funeral services to follow at the Life Church Assembly of God in Boutte, La. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery in Raceland, La.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland.
